The American Thanksgiving and more...

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving in the US. For those of you that don't know this, I was born in the US, in Michigan as a matter of fact. Even though I have lived in Canada since 1969 I am still an American citizen and I probably always will be one. Because of the passport stuff going on I am going to apply for my Canadian citizenship later this year. My mom was born in Canada, my sister and brother have both become Canadians. And of course my husband, children and grandchildren are all Canadian. But there is still a part of me that is a proud American.

When I was a teenager I sort of had my own tradition. If I am remembering correctly I used to watch Heidi (with Shirley Temple) every Thanksgiving on the Bill Kennedy at The Movies show. It was a show based in Detroit, Kennedy was a movie know all. Anyway he had this show that aired old, usually B movies and during the breaks he would answer questions or give some trivia about the movie or the stars that were in it. Remember this was before VCR's so there was no going out to buy the movie so you could watch it whenever you wanted. Anyway it was a fun thing, I liked the movie and back then it was the beginning of the Christmas season. Not like now where Christmas stuff shows up before Halloween is even over.

On Saturday Brittany and Rain came she wanted to show me her new little dog, Dodge. Isn't he cute and tiny? As small as he is, he kept chasing Sandy (a Jack Russell) who didn't seem to like it, and acted like a big chicken.

It is obvious that Rain and Dodge are going to be good friends.

On Sunday after church I went over to Amberley's to see the boys. They are so cute and busy. The first thing Ethan asked me was if we could do the craft that we did when I watched them a couple of weekends ago. I love my all of my grandsons, they are such a blessing and so much fun.

This year because all of my mom's grandchildren (except Logan who is 8) are now either on their own or in the working world. We have decided that on Christmas day we will do the gift exchange and play games. On Boxing day we will have the big dinner. This way everyone can have a little bit of our family Christmas. We usually celebrate Christmas on Boxing Day(the day after Christmas, it is a legal holiday in Canada). I know that Owen has to work on Boxing Day, it is the biggest sale day here. Like the Friday after Thanksgiving in the states. But it has been a bit of a struggle to make everything work, but I do believe everyone is OK with the way it is going to be. I should explain that the way it usually has worked out before is that every family does what they want on Christmas day everyone can go or do what they want. They can go to the in-laws, stay at home with your immediate family, visit friends whatever and then later in the day, anyone that wants to can go to my mom's (all mom's kids except for 1 live out of town 1-2 hours away)and we play family games all evening, we also eat all evening. It is a fun and relaxing time, and all the grandchildren (ages 25 - 8) look forward to it. We have a blast. One of the more popular games we play is Balderdash,it is so hilarious. If you have a hard time being in a loud room, then you wouldn't want to be in the same room as us when we play that game. Then on Boxing day we all gather at mom's for the big dinner, fellowship, and fun. And then later on that night we play more games. We are a game family.

Yea. Marie is still on Dancing With The Stars. She is in the finale. Though I really think the two finalists will be Mel B. and Helio. But I am glad that Marie is still in.

And on The Biggest Loser last night Kae was eliminated. But did she ever look good when they brought her back for the live weigh in. She has lost a total of 88lbs so far.

Sorry this is so long, but I guess I had a lot to say. Have a good Wednesday.
