The Christmas Movie I picked for today is "A Chrismas Carol" starring Alastair Sim. I think this version is the best one. It is so full of hope. I love it when Scrooge says near the end of the movie "I don't deserve to be so happy"

Christmas Memory:
Todays Christmas Memory is of my dad. When my sister & I were little we lived in Michigan, my mom's parent's lived in Chatham, Ontario. My dad would drive to Chatham a few days ahead of Christmas with our gifts from Santa. So when we woke up at grandma & grandpa's there were presents under the tree from Santa for us. I have often thought of this over the years. Just think that during the winter he would leave work, pack up the car with presents and drive to Chatham, which probably took 2 hours (between driving through the city, going through the boarder, and the ferry ride). Then after he dropped the presents off at my grandparents he had to go home, which would be another 2 hours. What a dad.

Christmas Song:
Today's Christmas song is "Peace On Earth/The Little Drummer Boy" sung by Bing Crosby and David Bowie. Now I am not a big fan of Bowie, but I really like how he sings this with Bing. And of course Bing is always good. By daughter Amberley is a big fan of this song.

Christmas Song & Christmas Memory

Owen and I went to Chatham to celebrate my sister's (Cathy) 50th birthday. We had a really nice time being together with the family. It was really nice to see 2 of my nieces. On Sat. night we went to Amberley & Perry's and played Settlers, I lost again. My brother and sister-in-law came to play the game also. Then Sunday after the party we went back to A & P for another game of Settlers, we were joined by one of their friends. I was like 2 points away from winning. Also sometime that weekend we played Boggle which I also lost. I know I loose a lot of these games, but I still love to play them. The only one that I ever seem to win is Trivia Pursuit.

I made a quick and tasty meal last night. I used one of those Glad steam bags. I cooked some rice, heated up some frozen vegetables put them in one of those bags and microwaved the bag. Topped it with soy sauce and ate. It was pretty good and very quick.

Tonight I watched "The Bells of St. Mary's" I really like this movie, the message is also a good one. It is about having faith, hope, dreams, never giving up and it shows how people can change other people's live's for the better

Christmas Memory
When my sister and I were growing up we would spend Christmas with my grandma & grandpa Weston. We had wonderful times and Santa was very generous to us, he gave us lot's of presents. Then later on my cousins and Aunt & Uncle would also come. And my great Aunt Iris would come from London (Ontario). Grandma would cook a beautiful dinner. Such good memories.

Christmas Memory
I love Christmas music and Christmas movies. When I was a teenager I was the one that always turned the Christmas music on first. Back then they didn't have VCR's or DVD movies. So you could only watch them when they aired on tv. Back then my favourite Christmas movie was "Heidi" (probably not even a real Christmas movie), the one with ShirleyTemple.Now I would have to say my favourite is "It's A Wonderful Life", because of what the movie has to say. This is what I get from the movie: first that their is a Higher Power, than no man is an island, stick to your principles, everyone is important to someone else, family is everything, and just as Clarence the angel says "no man is a failure who has friends". It's just a feel good movie. I always cry when all of George Bailey's friends and family come to his rescue.

Is "What Child Is This". I really like the version sung by "The Judds". When my children were babies and I was putting them to bed at night I would sing this song to them.
I couldn't find a version of The Judds singing this song, so this is by Josh Groban whose version is also wonderful.

I used to take the kids out every year when it got close to Christmas to do their shopping. We would give them $20.00 (I think) and they would pick out their presents. They would buy for their dad, their siblings and 2 sets of grandparents. It was fun watching them pick out the perfect presents. When we were done & on the way home they were so proud of what they bought. When the presents were wrapped and under the tree they were so happy to have presents they bought themselves under the tree. Closer to Christmas my husband would take them out to buy a present for me.

Christmas song today is "Mary Did You Know". I know there are lots of nice version's out there, but my favourite is the one sung by Donny Osmond.

Today I went for breakfast with my co-worker's, we went a week early because of it being a busy time. Including me there were 9 people there, we had a nice visit and the food was delicious.

I think of my girls when they were growing up, the excitement that built up as the day's got closer to the big day. We didn't always have a lot of money when they were younger but we did what we could. They both received something special every year, I believe they were happy with what they got. We had fun.

Todays Song is "O Holy Night" This is a beautiful song, this version is by John Berry. There are at least four version's of this song that I absolutly love, this is one of those version's. Enjoy.

It's Christmas time and I love it. I am in no way ready for the big event but who cares, I will be. This year is going to be different (really, a lot different) now that it's just Owen and me here, which makes it somewhat sad.

When I think of Christmas I think of many things. Here are some of them:

First and foremost is the birth of Jesus, our saviour. Although I celebrate Jesus all year long it has special meaning this time of year. When I think of the shepherds, and the manger, Mary and Joseph, the star and the wise men, it gives me a warm feeling inside and also a wonderment, a peace. Jesus completes the whole meaning of Christmas. All the Christmas hymns add to this feeling.

Matthew 2:9-12
After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh. And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.
