2013

This is my first post of 2013 and my first in over 6 months. I have not had the inkling to do any posts until now. For now I am going to try a different approach and think of this as a daily journal. I'm not exactly sure how I will go about this, or if I will even keep it up, but I am going to try. I am hoping to do a project life type of album this year, so this will help me to keep everything in order.
I hope everyone has a wonderful new year with lots of hope, love and adventure.

This was my mom's 75th birthday. She looks so good for 75. We had a surprise birthday party for her on Boxing Day. She was thrilled with that.

Sadly it also the anniversary of the death of my cousins 21/2 year old son, Kiran. My cousin Brian and his wife Sejal asked his family and friends to wear Kiran's favourite colour yellow on this day in remembrance of him. And then he wanted us to send him a picture of us dressed in yellow. So all that were here that day did just that. We felt honoured that we could do this for these beautiful people. 
Mike and Penny came over for the afternoon. And Ethan and Gavin wanted to come over to play with Rain. Logan and Cathy were already here. We ordered pizza and had a nice meal together.

Amberley & Perry went to Sarnia for Perry's birthday. They met up with Owen, I was buying his Samsung tablet and he gave it to them to bring home to me. My laptop broke during the holidays, so when he said he would sell it to me I jumped at the opportunity. I was thrilled to get it, but it takes time getting used to a tablet, I had to stop thinking of it as a computer and start thinking of it as a mobile device.
All in all it was a good day.

Owen is coming to Chatham today I can’t wait to see him. He is going to help us change the livingroom furniture around and get the Christmas decorations down from the attic. Wow can you believe it’s that time of year again. It’s exciting, I love Christmas. I am loving living in Chatham (except for the part about not seeing Owen everyday), I love life and I love my Saviour whose birth we celebrate at Christmastime.

Amberley & Brittany both had to go to the hospital this past week. One to emergency for an infection the other for a bunch of tests. Even though they are grown ups and have families of their own I just hate to see them suffering. I just love them so much I still want to protect them from harm and sadness, once a mom always a mom.

Sydney is beautiful, and thriving. Having a girl in the family means pink and dolls, frills and tea parties. I am going to enjoy every step of the way while also enjoying the ruff and tumble of the boys, the trains, Superman, and Wolverineman and all the boy stuff. Isn’t it fun having little ones in your life.

This week I had Rain for 2 nights which was fun he is such a good boy and so smart. On the second day I had him, I picked up Ethan & Gavin took them to McDonalds for some ice cream and playtime in the play area, cousin time. Then we headed back home, and made supper for them after I made popcorn and put it in 3 individual popcorn bags for them and watched a movie together. After the movie Perry came to get Ethan & Gavin. What a wonderful time with those little guys. I am so blessed.

For some reason they decided to take their shirts off, such silly and cute little guys.

I am planning a cookie baking day for next month, with mom, Cathy & Penny. Hopefully we all have that day off and get lots of baking done.

I'm Back

I am going to change the format of this blog temporarily. I am busy getting ready to move to Chatham. I am trying to get the my new place fixed up and painted and also trying to pack my current place. Plus I have to decide what I am going to do about my job. Do I get a transfer or look for a new job with a different company.

Also Amberley is pregnant with baby #3. Perry has a temporary job at the Bruce in Tiverton, which is about 3 hours away from Chatham. So I am planning on going to Chatham once a week to help her out with Ethan & Gavin. So I am busy, busy, busy.

So for now I am going to just post pictures.

Rain & Obama and...

I'm finally in a blogging mood, but not to blog about.Since my last post Barak Obama became president of USA. What a day, I had to work but I tivo'd it, and enjoyed watching it. I admit that I was unsure of him, but I did appreciate the historic aspect of the day. And I really liked his inauguration speech, I just hope that he does what he says he will do and I also liked the fact that he is very much a cheerleader of sorts to get the people involved. I wish him well and am looking forward to seeing what the next 4 years brings.Last Sat. was Rain's birthday party in London. He turned 5 earlier in the month. We had a real nice day. Brittany and Ryan were good hosts, and Rain had a great time. The weather was nice for driving. After the party my mom, and sister, Owen and I went to Kelsey's for lunch. I had a great day. Unfortunately Gavin was sick and they couldn't go out to lunch with us.

I saw "Mall Cop" tonight, and I thought it was very funny. I enjoyed it a lot. I don't think there were any swear words in it, a bit of minor violence but overall a good enjoyable movie.

Christmas Song & Christmas Memory

Owen and I went to Chatham to celebrate my sister's (Cathy) 50th birthday. We had a really nice time being together with the family. It was really nice to see 2 of my nieces. On Sat. night we went to Amberley & Perry's and played Settlers, I lost again. My brother and sister-in-law came to play the game also. Then Sunday after the party we went back to A & P for another game of Settlers, we were joined by one of their friends. I was like 2 points away from winning. Also sometime that weekend we played Boggle which I also lost. I know I loose a lot of these games, but I still love to play them. The only one that I ever seem to win is Trivia Pursuit.

I made a quick and tasty meal last night. I used one of those Glad steam bags. I cooked some rice, heated up some frozen vegetables put them in one of those bags and microwaved the bag. Topped it with soy sauce and ate. It was pretty good and very quick.

Tonight I watched "The Bells of St. Mary's" I really like this movie, the message is also a good one. It is about having faith, hope, dreams, never giving up and it shows how people can change other people's live's for the better

Christmas Memory
When my sister and I were growing up we would spend Christmas with my grandma & grandpa Weston. We had wonderful times and Santa was very generous to us, he gave us lot's of presents. Then later on my cousins and Aunt & Uncle would also come. And my great Aunt Iris would come from London (Ontario). Grandma would cook a beautiful dinner. Such good memories.

Family & Nights In Rodanthe

I saw this movie on Tues. night with my friends from work. I enjoyed it, It was funny and dramatic, with a totally surprising ending. Diane Lane and Richard Gere are really good in this movie. I have only seen a couple of Gere movies "An Officer And A Gentleman" and "The Gigolo" (I think that's what it was called) anyway these movies were made when he was much younger. I think he is cuter now that he is older. It is defiantly a chic flic, and there was very little swearing.

A couple of Sundays ago I went to Michigan to visit my aunt and uncle, my dad's sister. We had a lovely visit. They both looked wonderful and they couldn't have been nicer. I went with my sister and my mom, and my brother Mike was the driver. When Cathy and I were teenagers we stayed at their house for a week for a couple of summers and they were always nice to us. This was the first time I had Vernors, now whenever I have it I think of that time. Back then they had a pond in their backyard (way before they became so popular) and they still have it. I think it is bigger now, and there is a lot of koi and goldfish in it. I am very glad we made the trip, I think it meant just as much to them as to me (us).

Pictures Of My Grandsons

Niagara Falls

Last Monday started my mini trip to Niagara Falls, I went with my mom, my sister & my sister-in-law. We had a marvelous time. On Monday we got there later than planned. On our way there we stopped in St. Catharines at my niece Tiffanys apartment, her and Dillon have a very nice place. We had a little visit then headed for our B&B.

After checking in we decided to do some sight seeing.

We went down to the falls, and all along the falls we kept seeing these signs advertising Niagara's Fury. We decided to go, it was nice I am glad I went but the hype is a lot more than what you get.

Then we went to eat at a restaurant that Tiffany recommended, good food not the best/fastest service, but we had a very nice visit. Then we went back and played a game, I will give you 1 guess as to what we played, if you guessed Settlers you win. (applause)

On Tuesday we first went to the Butterfly Conservatory, beautiful, we loved it there. After that we went to Niagara-On-The-Lake. First stop to the Piller & Post a very nice hotel/spa

. It has been rated one of the best in Canada. It is an absolutely beautiful building. Then we walked down the main street where all the little shops were. After that we went to Queens Landing, this is a 5 star hotel, it is also where Tiffany works. It is gorgeous. We had lunch there, the prices were very reasonable. I had beef tenderloin kebabs and Greek salad and it was delicious. After that Tiffany joined us and we went to a wine tour at the Peller Estates, Tiffany also works there part time. It is absolutely beautiful. Because Tiffany works there, we were able to taste test more wine and we didn't even have to pay. The tour was lovely our tour guide Ali knew a lot about wines, she did very well. After that we took Tiffany home. Then out for supper, back to the B&B and onto another Settlers game. Wed. we left and went to Ikea, we spent about 3 hours there. I managed to buy a few things. We had the Ikea hotdogs and then went home.

We had a great time, we had wonderful conversations, lot of laughs, and the weather was perfect.

Our B&B was very nice as well, it was very clean the beds were just right, we had a little sitting area and 2 bathrooms.

I am very grateful that we all get along so well that we can go away together and know it will be a blast.
