Girls Night

My brother Mike took Rain and my nephew Logan (who is here for March break) out for supper and then back to his house where they all watched a hockey game. So mom and I went out for supper at Kelsey's. Mom had a veggie burger and I had the fish and chips, it was a great meal and I had excellent company. Afterwards we came home and decided to watch Casablanca. Neither one of has had seen it in a long time, we really enjoyed it. Such a great classic movie.

I avoided joining Pinterest for a long time and then it happened. I decided to go with the flow now I find I am Pining all the time. I am even Pinterest hopping as well. There are so many wonderful ideas out there. If you are throwing a birthday party, all you have to do is search it on Pinterest and you get hundreds of party ideas. There are different boards for almost anything that you can think of.

My First Post Of 2012

Its been awhile since I last entered a post. Life for me has changed a great deal, but it is all good. First off starting in Sept. my grandson Rain moved in with me and my mom. It was decided between his mom and me that this was the best thing for him right now. He adjusted very well. His school grades are great, he is reading very well and he just seems happy. So you can imagine life with an 8 year old. Life is much busier and tiring but the rewards for me are wonderful. Secondly I quit my job of 34 years in Sept. I was not getting enough hours there and I had gotten a full time job at a call centre. I was there for about 3 weeks. My mom went into the hospital and we both realized that the amount of hours I was working was to much. You see when I was working my mom would watch Rain, though he is no trouble it is still an adjustment, and I also realized that this was not what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
In Oct. I started working as seasonal help for Future Shop (Best Buy). I really liked it there and the people are fantastic to work for, but I just didn't feel a 100% comfortable there. Since I knew that I would be done on Jan. 7, I sent out some resumes.
No Frills called me in Jan. for an interview later that week, I was hired on the spot and I absolutly love it there. It is what I know, I am getting lots of hours, the people are wonderful and I find it much less stressful than the Superstore. Also at this store I do overrides, price matches and returns. It works out well with Rain, because I can take him to the bus in the morning and I usually get home in time (when working evenings) to say goodnight to him. I love my life.

Ethan and Rain are now 8, Gavin turns 7 next month and Sydney is 2. Owen is 20 and is working full time in Strathroy. If he gets permanent full time he is planning on moving there next year. Brittany is 26 now and still living in London, she is looking for a new place to live. She has been diagnosed with neuropathy and is in constant pain. Amberley is 29 and she is having tests to see if she has neuropathy, it is hereditary (their dad has it), she has a daycare in her house, and I am her backup and helper. My mom is doing well, she is such a great help with Rain. So now I am caught up I can go on with other things.

Free Photo Editing Software

2010 two of my favourite people
This photo was edited in befunky.com. It reminds me of the the Fugifilm Instax, that Ali Edwards uses in her Project Life album.

This editing program is called pixlr.com. I liked this one also for the different effects and the frames.
This one I used Photoscape. There are several things I like about this one. I like the many types of frames and collage pages it has.
For this one I used LunaPic, this software has several animations and frames, and different effects. It is pretty easy to use.
I used Phixr on this one, although it had a some interesting effects it is the one I liked the least.
And then there are the old standbys Picassa and Picnik. I use both of these all the time. It is nice to know that there is a software program that can do almost anything that you can think of.
Even though it is nice to be able to enhance, add an effect, or even change it completely the originals are nice to have.
I hope you enjoyed this little demonstration of free photo editing software.
Happy editing.

Cary Grant & American Idol

On Monday of this week my mom and I went to see a Cary Grant movie, Notorious. Our cultural centre shows a classic movie on once a month. Notorious was this months pick. It was nice to see it on a big screen, with a room full of other people. We all reacted to the suspenseful scenes, it was nice. I had never seen an old classic on anything other than my tv, so I really enjoyed it. Of course if you have read my blog at all you know that Cary Grant is my all time favourite actor. When I mentioned at work that I was going to see his movie one of the girls I was telling had no idea who Cary Grant is. That really made me feel old.

Warning: Spoiler Alert - if you haven't watched American Idol yet don't read any farther

We watched The American Idol Results show last night, all I can say about it is wow. First off I would like to say that I have enjoyed this season with Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler. At first I thought Jennifer would be to much of a diva for this type of thing, I am glad to say I was so wrong. She is a wonderful judge I have come to like her and Steven Tyler (I am not an Aerosmith fan) adds some crazy moments to it, they are both a great addition to this season. Ok to the result show, first of all the guests Stevie Wonder, what would it be like to have him sing happy birthday to you like he did to Steven Tyler, then Sugarland I don't have any of their music but I do like some of their songs to sing along with (not a big fan of what she wore though) And the Jennifer Hudson who herself was an idol contestant who was eliminated. But the biggest surprise was that Casey was voted off. I am not a big fan of the type of music he sings but he is very talented, I was glad the judges used their one and only save. It was a great show.

    Hi Ali
I love your projects. I however do not have Photoshop/Elements, but would love to purchase some of you overlays and brushes. Can either one be used in another photo editing program, I have Microsoft Digital Image Suite.
    Thanks

Hi Terry – I’m not familiar with that program (someone who reads this might have more information). You could download a couple of my free brushes and see if they work. Here’s a couple links: http://aliedwards.com/2010/01/scrapbooking-with-your-computer-downloading-unzipping-organizing-digital-elements.html
      and

I’m pretty certain that you do I’m pretty certain that you do need Photoshop or Elements to use the layered templates.

      Now for some pictures.

My nephew stayed here during March break. And his friend Gage came from Windsor and stayed at his grandparents. The three of them had a great time.
Mike and Penny came over to play Settlers, Logan won. Rain was my partner, he was a big help.
This collage is of some of the things we did during March break when Rain was here for the week. Of course we went to McDonalds. We also went to the Library and had a couple of games of Settlers. On the last night we went to Pizza Hut for supper.
On Wed. night Ethan and Gavin came over for supper and a movie. The movie was  Open Season 2. It was a very cute movie. The boys had a lot of fun playing together.

It’s Been A Long Time

It has been such a long time since I last posted.  I kind of lost the desire to add to my blog. I haven’t even gone out much to take pictures. Although I did tonight because the sunset was so beautiful.
I have been trying my hand at designing digital embellishments and sentiments. When I have it the way I want, I will put them on my blog for testing. I will never be in Ali Edwards league, I would still like to try my hand at it. Even if I don’t make any money from it, I will save by using them on my own pictures and layouts.
I really want to try to make a December Daily. I have all of the supplies I need, I just don’t have the time. If I don’t get it done for Christmas 2010, I will have it ready for Christmas 2011.
I am still enjoying living in Chatham. My grandchildren are now 7 (Ethan & Rain) 6 (Gavin) & 1 and a bit (Sydney).
This past summer I traveled to San Diego, California. I had a wonderful time. I stayed with a good friend, Robin. I went to Sea World and swimming in the ocean.

#127

I can't believe how fast this year has gone. I moved to Chatham
a little over a year ago. It was a great move on my part, because
I am now closer to my family. Although Brittany and her family
live in London, so I am a little farther from them now, then when
I lived in Sarnia. There are 2 things I miss about Sarnia, the first and
and most important is I miss seeing Owen everyday and 2ndly
is the waterfront and all that that entails. Like sitting on a bench in
the cool breeze with some french fries, a walk in Canatara Park,
the Animal Farm. But other than the Owen thing, I am glad I made
the move.
This summer is going to be busy. And I am going to California in July. .

Well I don't have much more to say. So I will post some pictures

This was taken in Feb. in Erieau

A flower in the garden and a rabbit in the yard.

Have a good day.
